Rippin Kitten!
Submitted by shawn on Sun, 03/29/2009 - 08:56YBL spent a little time talking to Liz of the Rippin Kitten web site.
Liz is a really good writer, quite the mechanic and has some strong opinions regarding women and motorcycles - and her opinions my surprise you!
Also, she has created a really cool logo for her T-shirt design:
She still has a few left so head over to her web site and grab one!
It look's like you don't have Adobe Flash Player installed. Get it now.
Women’s Only Motorcycles: Pandering or Genius Marketing?
Submitted by shawn on Mon, 03/16/2009 - 07:46The WildKaT is the first motorcycle designed from the ground up for women riders. Seriously, do women really need specially designed motorcycles? Why don’t car manufacturers start building women-specific cars then? Oh wait, they do. It’s the mini-van.
Why are some women buying into the hype?!?! It makes me so angry to see droves of women gathering around the Ridley tent at rallies, sitting on those glorified scooters and to hear that ROAR has reservations piling up for this motorcycle that isn’t even produced.
I know that lots of people (women specifically) might not like my opinion. They might say something like”well, who cares what women are riding as long as they’re out there riding?”
Me. I care.
(YBL Comment: I can see both sides of the issue but Rippin Kitten has some good points)

May is Women Riders Month
Submitted by shawn on Thu, 02/19/2009 - 10:23This May the rumble from those April showers will continue a little longer as thousands of female riders hit the open road to celebrate the first-ever Women Riders Month.
Harley-Davidson is staging a series of events designed to celebrate the number of women who have already hit the open road on two wheels, as well as encourage even more women to get behind the handlebars. Two of the larger Harley-Davidson Women Riders Month initiatives include activities for the Third Annual International Female Ride Day on Friday, May 1, 2009, and encouraging 100,000 women to learn to ride.
International Female Ride Day was started by Vicki Gray of Motoress.com and falls on the first day of May. The special day seeks to promote awareness and celebrate women riders of all ages across the globe. This year Harley-Davidson jumped on the bandwagon by declaring the whole month of May Women Riders Month with plans to stage special rides in New York City and Milwaukee to commemorate International Female Ride Day on May 1.

I Am A Changed Woman - How a Motorcycle Liberated Me
Submitted by shawn on Tue, 02/03/2009 - 13:25I swallowed hard, knowing that my next steps would be out the door to the shop which housed my 2008 Harley-Davidson Sportster 1200 Low 105th Anniversary Edition.
(After the ride)...the person who walked back to the house is not the same person that walked out of the house to the shop that morning. She's changed. She's a woman who knows she can ride her own ride, live her own life, dream her own dreams with or without someone riding right beside her. I am liberated.
I rode 58 miles alone today. The most important 58 miles of my life!
(YBL Comment: Congratulations to Rhonda! The feelings she had getting off the bike are universal - we are all changed by our decision to ride)
